What does success look like for a Christian career woman?
Yes, we want to grow. We want to do meaningful work, become stronger leaders, pursue new opportunities, and make an impact.
But we also want to do it with God at the center.
That kind of success doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intention and disciplines that keep us grounded while we grow.
The good news? The formula doesn’t have to be complicated.
Pray. Grow. Take action.
Here’s what that looks like in real life.
1. Pray: Bring God Into Your Career
Pray about everything.
Your career is not separate from your faith.
The meeting you’re preparing for. The promotion you want. The difficult coworker. The career decision keeping you up at night. The opportunity you’re excited about.
Pray about it.
Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to pray “on all occasions.”
That means we don’t have to wait for a crisis to bring our careers before God. We can invite Him into our ambitions, decisions, challenges, relationships, and opportunities.
Before you make the move, send the email, accept the opportunity, or make the big decision, talk to God about it.
Make prayer part of your workday.
First Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to “pray continually.”
That doesn’t mean you have to spend your entire workday with your eyes closed.
It means prayer can become part of the rhythm of your day.
Before the meeting: God, give me wisdom.
When you’re frustrated: God, help me respond well.
When you need courage: God, help me speak up.
When the opportunity comes: God, show me what to do.
When you get the win: God, thank You.
Prayer keeps us connected to God while we’re getting things done.
2. Grow: Be Intentional About Who You’re Becoming
Career growth matters. But for the Christian career woman, professional development should never come at the expense of spiritual development.
We should be growing in both.
Get in the Word.
Books, podcasts, conferences, courses, and mentors can teach us a lot about success and leadership.
But don’t overlook the wisdom found in Scripture.
The Bible has plenty to say about courage, integrity, relationships, communication, money, conflict, leadership, humility, ambition, and wisdom.
So don’t just read Scripture to check a box.
Study it with purpose.
Try a Bible reading plan. Spend a month in Proverbs. Choose a topic that speaks directly to your current season. Study what Scripture says about leadership, courage, patience, contentment, or trusting God through uncertainty.
Then ask:
What is God teaching me, and how should it change the way I live and lead?
Don’t just read it. Apply it.
Scripture isn’t meant to be skimmed and forgotten.
It’s meant to change us.
Highlight the verses that challenge you. Write down what you’re learning. Compare translations. Dig deeper into passages you don’t understand.
And pay attention when Scripture makes you uncomfortable.
Maybe it challenges how you’re handling a relationship.
Maybe it exposes an attitude you need to address.
Maybe it causes you to rethink how you’re pursuing success.
That’s growth.
The goal isn’t simply to know more Scripture. It’s to become more of the woman God is calling you to be.
3. Take Action: Put Your Faith to Work
This is where things get interesting.
You can pray about it.
You can study it.
You can journal about it.
But eventually, you have to do something.
James 1:22 reminds us not to merely listen to the Word, but to do what it says.
Faith requires action.
Pay attention to the challenge.
The more time you spend in prayer and Scripture, the more likely you are to recognize areas where God may be calling you to grow.
Don’t ignore them.
Write them down. Pray about them. Reflect on what needs to change.
Then decide what you’re going to do about it.
Take the next step.
Maybe it’s time to:
Apply for the opportunity.
Have the conversation.
Ask for the promotion.
Set the boundary.
Forgive someone.
Speak up in the meeting.
Find a mentor.
Change a habit.
Take the risk.
Start the thing you’ve been talking yourself out of.
Your next step doesn’t have to be huge. But it does need to move you forward.
Sometimes the most important career move you’ll make isn’t found in a five-year plan. It’s simply having the courage to take the next step God is placing in front of you.
Pray. Grow. Take Action.
That’s the formula.
Pray about where you’re going.
Grow into the woman and leader God is calling you to become.
Take action on what you’re learning.
Then repeat.
Because success as a Christian career woman isn’t only about the title you earn, the opportunities you receive, or how far you climb.
It’s about becoming a woman who pursues excellence, leads with integrity, grows in her faith, and keeps God at the center of it all.
Pray. Grow. Take action. And keep moving forward.
